With summer fast approaching, our thoughts turn to camp. Many of our students have not been successful at camp in the past because of anxiety and behavior challenges. If that is true of your child, we may be just the camp for you:
A student who will be successful at camp:
•can communicate independently
•enjoys being outdoors
•is able to play in a group
•is between 2nd grade and 8th grade
A student who will be a successful CIT:
•can be left alone for short periods of time
•can follow multiple step verbal directions
•wants to improve their leadership skills

Zombie Apocalypse Boot Camp, (ZABC), will be held June 19th-30th at 36 Terrybrook lane, Hillsborough. Designed for campers 4th-12th grade with behavioral challenges and/or ASD, ZABC is a highly structured wilderness survival camp that will give your child the skills necessary to not only survive, but thrive during the zombie apocalypse. In addition to fishing, hiking, archery, fire building, and outdoor cooking, ZABC campers will learn to work as a group and build social skills. Most staff are full time special educators who have experience with reactive children and ASD; most are certified in NCI and LSCI. One-on-ones are welcome. Camp is $500 per week, or $900 for both weeks. A deposit of $100 will hold your child’s spot.
Camp Accolade, held July 31-August 11 on the JRA campus, is a two-week day camp for children, who struggle with emotional and behavioral disorders. The camp offers children who have previously been unsuccessful in typical summer camp settings because of their behavior the opportunity to enjoy a safe, structured, empowering experience. The camp works on bonding with others, thinking about others socially, and self-control. But the main purpose is having fun doing typical camp activities such as games, swimming, and crafts. Most staff is North Carolina Interventions trained and experienced with reactive children. Camp is $500 per week, or $900 for both weeks. A deposit of $100 will hold your child’s spot.
